Liverpool fighting to sign ‘The new Raheem Sterling’ from Jamaican league

Liverpool are being credited with an interest with young winger Alex Marshall, who currently plies his trade in his homeland Jamaica for Cavalier.

The Sunday People, cited by the Birmingham Mail, claim we’re one of five English clubs interested in the 20-year-old, including Aston Villa, Leicester, Spurs and West Ham.

Marshall is being likened to Raheem Sterling both stylistically, because he’s a tricky, rapid winger – and because both are of Jamaican heritage.

The flyer has seven caps for his country and is probably the best player in his league, capable of scoring and assisting from the left flank.

His experience of elite football is extremely limited though, so we’d imagine if we were interested it would be with a view of either blooding Marshall in the U23s or sending him on loan down the leagues.

We’ve found a highlights package from last year, which shows Marshall skinning his opponents for fun – but the level of defenders he’s up against looks very low!
