Liverpool are likely to cancel a friendly three days before the Premier League kicks off, according to Paul Joyce of the Times.
Today, the fixture list for the 2019/20 season was revealed and the opening match will take place on a Friday night, between ourselves and Norwich.
But on the Tuesday beforehand, we were due to host Schalke – which seems way too small a gap – in all honesty.
Liverpool considering scrapping Anfield friendly with Schalke 04 on Tuesday, August 6 because it’s too close to opening PL fixture v Norwich on Friday, August 9. Sky Sports unaware of any request from club to avoid that Friday slot. @TimesSport

Considering the fact we also have a Community Shield fixture with Manchester City, as well as a Super Cup game with Chelsea, to navigate – it seems a sensible decision from the club.
After all, we’re already booked in for seven friendlies over the summer, many of which are taking place in America.
The last thing we want to do is burn out early, especially considering some of our best players are away at the Copa America and AFCON and will need an extended break.
Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff though are expert at getting everyone in peak physical shape for the beginning of the campaign – and we’re confident they’ll do just that.
