Reds man could be on the move as club reignite previous interest

AS Roma are reportedly preparing to make a fresh approach for Dejan Lovren having become frustrated in their pursuit of Juventus’ Daniele Rugani, according to a report in Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Rugani was believed to be the primary target for the Serie A side, but now they have been unable to snare him, they might be coming back for Lovren again, having been interested throughout the summer transfer window, which remains open across Europe.

The Reds are not prepared to sanction a loan deal – rightly so, given there would be no benefit at all to the club in that scenario – but would take an offer of close to £20 million for the 30-year-old, who is now firmly fourth choice.

Lovren could still be very useful for the Reds, and selling him without being able to bring in a replacement would be a pretty big risk, but Jurgen Klopp is reportedly prepared to let him go anyway.

With only a few days remaining for Roma to get a deal done, if an offer is to come, it will have to arrive fairly imminently.
