Manchester United’s most consistent and maybe best player David De Gea limped out of Spain’s 1-1 draw with Sweden last night.
And according to BBC Sport, the 28-year-old grabbed his hamstring and exited the field in the second-half, meaning it’s very unlikely that he’ll face Liverpool on Sunday.
This is probably good news for us short-term, although in truth, Sergio Romero is a decent understudy and Adrian has shown that sides can deal without their first-choice stoppers.
According to Physio Room, United have ten players who are currently a doubt for Old Trafford.
They include: Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, Timothy Fonsu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot.
Of those players, Physio Room says that Martial, Wan-Bissaka, Pogba and Lingard could return for the Liverpool game – but the fact they won’t be 100% match-fit is surely another benefit to us.
Liverpool could stretch our lead over United to 18 points after just nine games of the season with a win – but we’ve only won once at Old Trafford in 10 years in the Premier League.
