Liverpool have introduced the idea that they could field two entirely different teams in two competitions on the same day to get around the issue of fixture congestion this December.

By beating Arsenal in the EFL Cup last 16, we’ve earned a quarterfinal tie with Aston Villa, but it’s due to take place while we’re away in Doha for the Club World Championships…

According to the Telegraph, Reds officials have spoken to the English Football League and said they could potentially field a team of youngsters v Villa at the arranged date, while the first-team is in UAE.

A more likely alternative is that the QF will take place on January 8, when the semi-final is meant to take place – and the semi will be either be turned into a one legged game or rearranged.

Whatever is decided, Jurgen Klopp is adamant that no fixture will scheduled that disrupts his first-team, who are going for the Premier League and the Champions League again.
