Let’s paint a picture: Liverpool and Manchester City have continued to win games throughout December and have pulled away from the pack heading into the second half of the Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp prepares his side for the New Year’s Eve clash against Pep Guardiola’s SkyBlues, which is the most highly anticipated of the season.

With the teams level after 75 minutes, Liverpool’s manager brings on Coutinho to a jaw-dropping ovation; the Brazilian’s first appearance since injuring his ankle ligaments at the end of November.

After five minutes, our no.10, whose every touch is cheered, cuts in from the left and curls a beauty into Claudio Bravo’s top corner – in front of the Kop.

Liverpool win and the city centre parties well into January 2nd.

This would be nice, wouldn’t it?! According to Paul Joyce of the Times, Coutinho is targeting the City game, which will hopefully be a crunch one, for a return following his devastating injury blow against Sunderland.

Before the City clash, the only ‘big’ game without our talisman is away to Everton, although we still need to navigate Bournemouth, West Ham, ‘Boro and Stoke in his absence.

Coutinho thrives against City; they’re his favourite opposition – and we can’t help fantasising over the potential fairytale already!
