Liverpool traveled to the Hawthorns on Sunday, with West Brom needing a win to stay in the relegation battle. But that wasn’t to be, as the Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard fired Liverpool ahead in the 28th minute thanks to a defensive mistake from West Brom. Liverpool were on the front foot in the first haf but that could have been different as West Brom an early chance, but it was Pepe Reina with a great save.
In the second half, Liverpool were forced to defend and The Baggies should have had a penalty after there was an open net, and Lucas barged powerfully into a West Brom Player. Later, Dutchman Dirk Kuyt put Liverpool two up midway through the second half with a great effort giving the keeper no chance. West Brom kept on pushing, but despite hitting the bar, they failed to score.
Final score: West Brom 0-2 Liverpool. West Brom are relegated.
