Torres Tops Replica Shirt Sales

For the second year running Liverpool’s Spanish striker Fernando Torres has topped a list of the most sought after names featured on Barclays Premier League replica shirts in a list compiled by Sporting iD, who deal in visual identity and graphics.

Sporting iD has produced the official sleeve badge to the Premier League since 1993 and been the official licensee and supplier for players’ names and numbers since 1997, they are also Europe’s largest manufacturer to the sports trade.

The frontman held off competition from Anfield teammate Steven Gerrard to finish first as Liverpool took the top two places in the list ahead of the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas. Jamie Carragher made it a hat-trick for Liverpool players as he forced his way in to the Sporting ID top 10 in 9th spot.

The sales figures are based upon the number of official club shirts sold domestically and internationally, proving the strength in depth of the Liverpool fan base despite their worst league campaign in over a decade.

  1. This is EPL only, right? Wonder how the names on this list compare with other leages, namely La Liga. Messi and Ronaldo probably sell a few shirts. Great to see two Liverpool players at 1 and 2 as well as Carra coming in at number 9.
