Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is considering handing 17 year-old Sheyi Ojo a place on the bench against FC Basel tonight.
The Reds take on the Swiss giants in a crucial UEFA Champions League clash, knowing that a victory will see us through to the last 16 of the competition, and the Echo state that Ojo could offer us something of a wildcard option.
The teenage winger possesses tremendous pace, and his trickery on the ball would certainly provide excitement to the side – if we are chasing victory in the closing stages.
Ojo joined from MK Dons in 2011, and has played with our Under-21s side this season as well as receiving a call-up to the England U18s.
Rodgers has recently invited Ojo to train with the first team at Melwood, having impressed against Ludogorets in the UEFA Youth League.
The youngster scored twice in a 3-0 win, and earned a place in the travelling squad to face Leicester City. He wasn’t a substitute for that Premier League fixture, but could be granted his opportunity tonight.
UPDATE: Ojo has instead been selected to start for the U19s against Basel, so will not be selected for the senior side.
Ojo, who was under consideration for the first team tonight but is instead playing here, goes down in the box and is booked for diving.
