Merseyside Police revealed they had been made aware of the page, according to the Liverpool Echo, which was only created Friday, last week.

It includes images of those who sadly lost their lives in the tragedy as well as a number of offensive and upsetting comments.

The name of the page has not been revealed and it’s not abundantly clear whether the page was removed by Facebook itself or deleted by the creators.

A Liverpool fan, Kevin Cosgrove, was among those who reported the website to the authorities and says he sent a message to those behind the page demanding it be removed.

“I’m a Liverpool fan, this is close to my heart. I’m fuming, I’m angry but hurting at the same time,” he told the Echo.

“I said to him doesn’t it matter that you are hurting the families who lost children on the day and may see this?”

Merseyside Police thanked vigilant members of the public, like Kevin, for reporting the incredibly disturbing page and said enquiries are now underway to try and find the culprits.
