Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been included in Twitter’s Premier League team of the season – which is made up of the players most talked about on the social media website during the 2014-15 campaign.
The 24-year-old Italian has desperately struggled for form and fitness this year, making just ten Premier League starts and scoring only one goal – against Tottenham Hotspur back in February.
He’s joined in a three-man strikeforce by Manchester United’s Radamel Falcao, who has also struggled to make an impact since a big-money move at the start of the season, and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
Another Gunner – Mesut Ozil – is accompanied in midfield by Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas and Joey Barton, who has recently been released by Queens Park Rangers (via The Guardian).
The defence is then Manchester dominated with United’s Luke Shaw and David de Gea joined by City’s Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta, as well as former United centre-back Rio Ferdinand.
