  • He started his career with Brazilian side Figueirense. After coming through their youth set-up, he made his professional debut in October 2009, shortly after his 18th birthday. He scored eight goals that season and helped his team earn promotion back to Brazil’s first division.
  • His performances encouraged German side 1899 Hoffenheim to sign him in January 2011. He scored three goals in his first half a season and continued to improve from there. He netted seven in each of the next two campaigns before scoring an impressive 22 during the 2013-14 season.
  • He struck ten times in all competitions last season and was given the second highest performance rating by WhoScored for his efforts during the campaign. Only Kevin De Bruyne scored higher.
