Summer signing has cancelled holiday to join Liverpool pre-season

Let’s hope this is a sign of good things to come from summer signing Danny Ings.

The England Under-21 forward was granted an extended leave due to his participation in the European Championships this summer, but has decided not to take it – so that he can meet up with his new Liverpool team-mates and embark on the pre-season tour, reports the Mirror.

Our new no.28 will now train at Melwood before our tour of Asia and Australia ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Ings signed from Burnley on a Bosman deal after his contract expired, but because he’s 22-years-old, we have to pay the Turf Moor outfit a compensation fee for his services.

This will be decided by a tribunal, with Burnley holding out for £8m (via Mirror).

With Daniel Sturridge expected to miss the start of the season due to his continual injury problems (via BBC Sport), Ings has a chance to establish himself in the side. He’s a natural finisher, and prides himself on his work inside the penalty area.

We’re delighted by the attitude he’s shown so far. Let’s hope it translates directly into goals.
