Klopp may have to wait to sign talented £20m Bundesliga midfielder

Jurgen Klopp is apparently chasing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, but may be forced to wait a while before he gets his man, according to Goal.

The 20-year-old has been hugely impressive for Gladbach and the German U21s, so it’s understandable that the Bundesliga side want to hold onto him. The fact that they’ve already lost Granit Xhaka to Arsenal this summer has only strengthened their resolve, and they’ve reportedly ruled out any chance of selling Dahoud ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Klopp is apparently willing to wait in order to sign the young star though, and will hold off until next summer in order to secure the £20m rated player’s signature (via Goal). There’s no telling what can happen in a year, and our targets, needs, and finances could drastically change between now and then. He’s incredibly talented though, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

We’re not the only ones chasing the promising German youngster, with both Manchester United and Manchester City monitoring the situation as well (via the Express). The report suggests we’re favourites to eventually secure his signature though, as his agent has a history of doing deals with Liverpool – Emre Can and Semed Yesil both being clients of his.

Despite his tender age, Dahoud has been in and around the first team for the last couple of seasons at Gladbach, amassing 33 caps during that time. He certainly has a truly bright future ahead of him, and if Klopp really is keen on him then it would be great to see him in a Liverpool shirt.
