Jurgen Klopp provides disappointing injury update about exciting young winger

Jurgen Klopp has told reporters that our young England U19s star Sheyi Ojo is still not training with the rest of the team, thus suggesting a return to the squad is still some time away. (via Echo).

Ojo was initially ruled out for a month after suffering a back fracture while we were on tour in the United States. That would have given him a return date of mid-September (Echo), but Klopp’s comments today suggest that is now looking too optimistic.

Ojo was one of the breakout stars of last season. He spent the first half of the campaign on loan with Wolves, but after being recalled and impressing Klopp in cup games back in January, he was gradually given more and more responsibility. He eventually displaced Jordon Ibe as the squad’s hottest young prospect.

His impressive rise and the faith Klopp has in him was underlined when we agreed to sell Ibe to Bournemouth for £15 million during the last transfer window.
