Danny Ings is doing everything he can for Liverpool’s Under-23s to earn a chance in Jurgen Klopp’s first XI.
He’s plundering goals for fun in fact, notching a hat-trick verses Ipswich in their most recent encounter – an easy 3-0 win.
Ings has only made one short substitute appearance in the EFL Cup so far, which is hardly a fair crack of the whip.
But with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi unable to get in Klopp’s first-choice side centrally either, it’s perhaps no surprise that Ings is finding it so hard himself…
He now has another two weeks working with Klopp at Melwood, while many of his rivals for a starting spot are on international duty.
Will Ings be able to suitably impress for Klopp to take a risk on him? We hope so. He’s a potentially prolific forward.
