It seems Mamadou Sakho could be closer to his Anfield exit than Reds first thought with Crystal Palace still in pursuit of the Frenchman.
The chances of a permanent move to Selhurst Park following his loan spell in the second half of last season were seemingly diminished when it appeared Palace were reluctant to meet his £30million price-tag.
That said, the Eagles are believed to have agreed a personal deal with the central defender, according to Goal.com’s Melissa Reddy.
Though Sakho will be part of a 22-player cohort that returns for Liverpool’s first day of pre-season training on Wednesday, his career with the Reds is very much over with Jurgen Klopp showing no signs of having a change of heart.
An agreement between the two clubs is still some way off given Palace’s futile desire for Liverpool to lower their asking-price. It simply won’t happen.
The report outlines the £30million Everton recently paid for Michael Keane as a justification for Sakho’s price, especially when also considering the fact he is far more experienced.
Palace will have to pay up if they want to secure their top target and a man who played an integral role in helping the club avoid relegation last season.
