LFC’s doctors on standby for rapid medical in Paris; £75m move lined up

Liverpool have sent members of our medical team to Paris so that we can quickly complete Thomas Lemar’s medical should we agree a deal with Monaco today, reports the Echo.

FSG have sanctioned up to £75m for the 21-year-old Frenchman, but as of yet, there’s no indication the Ligue 1 champions will be prepared to do business.

If we do submit a sizeable enough bid, our doctors will head to Clairefontaine, where Lemar is currently based ahead of France’s internationals, and put him through a quick-fire medical in order to confirm our record transfer.

We broke it two days ago by announcing Naby Keita for £55m, and splashed out a cool £35m on Alex Olxade-Chamberlain last night – but any deal for 14-goal, 17 assist Lemar will eclipse both.

The attacking midfielder is technically superb, has a majestic left foot and has the potential to develop into one of Europe’s best players.

Jurgen Klopp has earmarked him as an option for either flank or in central midfield and we’d be delighted to capture him today. There’s more chance of securing Lemar than Virgil van Dijk, though, whose situation at Southampton hasn’t changed.
