Liverpool are expected to launch a lucrative effort to tie down their notorious front three for the remainder of Jurgen Klopp’s reign on Merseyside.
The Reds are undoubtedly eager to avoid bidding farewell to any more star players having been forced to reluctantly pave the way for Philippe Coutinho’s £142million move to Barcelona in January.
A mission to inject long-term stability looks set to start with Sadio Mane following his landmark week for the club.
The Senegalese forward is in line for a new contract and subsequent pay rise at Anfield, reports the Mirror’s Neil Moxley.
Mane fired his first hat-trick for the club on Wednesday as Liverpool cruised to a 5-0 win in the first leg of their last 16 Champions League clash with Porto.
It marked a welcomed turn in fortune for the ex-Southampton man following his frustrating, albeit not catastrophic, run of form in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old has been a revelation since arriving from St Mary’s in 2016, with his impact arguably inspiring Klopp to pursue a player boasting similar traits in Mohamed Salah.
His tendency to drift across the front line has proven to be well-suited to Liverpool’s interchanging attacking style, whilst his sheer pace has presented him as a useful outlet for his teammates to exploit.
With 12 goals to his name in all competitions so far this season, Mane is just one away from equalling his tally in his debut campaign for the club.
Alongside Salah and Roberto Firmino, he has played a starring role in spearheading one of Europe’s most enthralling attacking sides and putting Liverpool firmly in the hunt for a top four finish.
Mane has three-years left on his current deal, although there is no harm in getting necessary business done early.
