Saif Rubie, the agent of Reds forward Bobby Duncan, has been cut out of the imminent deal which will see the 18-year-old sign for Fiorentina in Serie A, according to the Daily Mirror.

The two clubs have agreed a fee of €2 million (£1.8 million) plus a sell-on clause of 20%, but the report claims the deal only went through because Rubie was not involved.

Last week, the agent, who has also represented Saido Berahino, caused a stir when he made a series of explosive accusations involving Reds sporting director Michael Edwards, who he claimed had bullied his client and damaged his mental health.

The Reds were quick to deny the allegations were true, and it seems have refused to do business with Duncan and Fiorentina until Rubie was out of the equation.

It is a shame that Duncan has decided to leave Merseyside just a year after he arrived in his dream move, but after the events of last week, it never looked likely that the relationship could be repaired.
