The tribute song from 1989

Posted by

I was going through my old 45s and came across the tribute song for Hillsborough that made me shiver as it was sitting there like a time capsule bringing back those sad memories. As you can see I still have the price on it and the date reads 05-89.

The 1989 charity song “Ferry ‘Cross The Mersey” was recorded by The Christians, Holly Johnson, Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden and Stock Aitken Waterman. The single held the number 1 spot in the UK charts and stayed there for three weeks. The song on the ‘B side’ was “Abide By Me” sung by the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Choir and recorded on Sunday 16th April 1989.
