Danny Ings has made an outrageous bet this season…

Danny Ings has bet Mo Salah that he’ll score more Premier League goals than him this season, according to the Evening Standard.

Last season, the Egyptian broke the record for the most goals in a 38-game campaign since the inception of the competition in 1992, while Ings scored three PL goals in three campaigns in red!

However, he’s started well on loan at Southampton, scoring twice in his four games, seemingly reinvigorated by the fact he’s now a starter – something he never was under Jurgen Klopp.

Salah also has two this term, and we’re convinced our no.11 will go on to score well over 20 again.

If Ings can reach those numbers then fair play to him, as we’ll get a huge fee for his services come 2019, but we’d still have our money on Mo!

“It was more of a bit of banter between us. Mo’s a good friend of mine. Everything he gets he deserves,” Ings said.

“There’s not many more humble players in football. It’s a bit of a laugh.

“Hopefully, we’ll both score plenty of goals this season.

“Can I beat him? It would be incredible wouldn’t it?

“I’m just working every day to improve. I’ve missed a lot of football.”

Salah has slightly more internal competition than Ings, of course. We have Sadio Mane on four already, while Roberto Firmino also got off the mark on Saturday.

On top of that, Daniel Sturridge enjoyed a quality pre-season and will have an impact this term, too.
