Keown thinks LFC’s most consistent performer is weak and should be attacked

Martin Keown thinks Arsenal should target Andrew Robertson today.

Unai Emery’s side host Liverpool at the Emirates this evening, knowing a win could put them within one point of us at the top of the table.

The Scot has pocketed the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Riyad Mahrez this season, but the pundit reckons he can be got at…

In fact, he’s arguably been our most consistent performer this term, alongside the central defensive pairing and perhaps Gini Wijnaldum.

“In Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, Liverpool have two of the quickest centre backs in the land,” Keown said, cited in the Echo.

“But Arsenal have pace in attack with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who should be asking questions of Liverpool left back Andrew Robertson.

“I have seen him tested when playing for Scotland and it could be an area Aubameyang and Alex Iwobi try to exploit.”

We’d honestly encourage Arsenal, and everybody else in the Premier League, to attack Robertson.

He’s proven time and time again that he’s a fierce competitor, defensively excellent and utterly composed. You wouldn’t need one hand to count the number of bad games he’s had since signing from Hull in 2017, actually.

In fact, we’d go as far to say that Robertson is the Premier League’s best left-back. Benjamin Mendy is poor defensively, while Marcos Alonso os overrated because of his goals.

We know we wouldn’t swap our 24-year-old for anybody.

He will have a tough test against Arsenal’s speedy attackers, but it won’t be anything he isn’t used to.
